Sperm Donors for Family Formation

Centers for sperm donation vary in their requirements on how a man can donate sperm.  Usually men who are between 18 and 40 years of age mentally and physically fit and have perfect sperm qualities qualify.  They are called sperm donors.

These donors are able to help infertile couples have children of their own.  Sometimes most donors are married men with kids of their own.
Donors come in two types.  The anonymous donor is an individual who stores sperm for a chosen recipient who is not his intimate partner or wife.  The anonymous donors usually do not care what happen to the sperms they donated.  But known donors do so for family consideration to help them expand or create a family of their own.  They donate for the sake of a family member or friends.

Before a sperm can be accepted from donors, they follow a general procedure.  Firstly the sperm donors contact the sperm center and fill out paperwork relating to his medical history as well as their general background information.  The next step is a medical examination for semen analysis and to determine also if the donor is healthy.  The sperm analysis will indicate the sperm’s fertility.  Based on the results the health worker will make recommendations whether the donor is a candidate for sperm banking.

The sperm center or sperm bank furnishes information, services and resources to all men and women who choose to form or expand their families through donor insemination or sperm storage.  Sperm banks usually employ published standards, regulations and existing legal statutes.

If the anonymous donor passes all requirements the sperm bank will ask him to donate his sperm.  Strict screening requirements are followed in order to avoid the risk of passing on sexually transmitted diseases through insemination.  Most sperm banks will pay the donor a specified amount of money to donate their sperm.  This is virtually the reason why donors donate sperm because of monetary compensation.

The known sperm donors also will undergo the same procedure when donating sperm.  However the procedure usually takes place within the confines of the office of the fertility doctor treating the infertile couple.  A thorough medical examination similar to that of the anonymous donor to make sure that the donor is healthy and fertile.   The only difference probably is when the known donor will not accept monetary compensation for his deed.

There are designated recipients who desire a more personal connection with the donor.  This will continue the genetic lineage of their partner by choosing a member of this family.  This is also to provide their children the chance to establish a relationship with the donor.

Sperm donors can be called noble on their own.  It takes a lot of maturity to donate your sperm for others who may benefit from them.  And it takes a lot of courage also to watch their own children living with other families other than their own.  They are able to help that’s what matters most.
