There are many skin diseases. Cradle cap is one of the skin diseases. Cradle cap is the form of skin condition normally termed as seborrheic dermatitis. This skin condition is very common in kids and those children who have just started to take a few steps. Cradle cap is not a contagious type of disease. Normally the cradle cap does not cause any ill-effects to a baby’s health. But the cradle cap normally does not respond to any treatment.
Cradle Cap Causes
The exact reason of cradle cap is still not known. However, many health experts and doctors believe that the main reason of cradle cap is the excess production of oil from child’s oil glands. This excess production of oil by oil glands is due to the rapid growth of the child. Due to this the development of dead skin takes place. Sometimes you can also observe that this oil has accumulated on baby’s scalp.

Cradle Cap Symptoms
The appearance of cradle cap generally takes place within the first months of the birth of the child. One of the most common sign of appearance of cradle cap is the dry scales on the scalp of the baby. As the time goes on theses scales will become greasy and with time this may turn red, brown or yellow also. You will observe that the entire head of the baby is covered with patches of scales. Sometimes these patches may also take a crusty look. Generally the cradle cap will not cause any sort of pain, but at times the baby with cradle cap may feel irritation or itching.
Cradle Cap Treatment
The answer to this question is certainly yes. The cradle cap is totally curable. You can visit your child’s pediatrician; the pediatrician will check up the baby and will prescribe some medicine or ointments. This medicine will help the baby to get rid of this cradle cap problem.
Cradle Cap-when to seek the services of a doctor
The parents of the children have to take care of their children if they fall sick or otherwise also. If the parents or the caretakers think that their children is suffering from cradle cap, they should immediately take the child to the doctor and get the child fully treated. Do not hide anything from the doctor, if you feel that the child is having some scales spread on other body parts, you should also tell this to the doctor. If the scales on child’s body appear to be inflammable, tell the doctor about this also.
