Achieving the Perfect Shave

A necessary part of good grooming in men is shaving. It is one of the most important routine for some men. Studies showed that around 90% of men admittedly prefer to be clean-shaven. An estimated time of three and a half minutes at the least it will take for a man to shave his entire face. Through the years the methods of shaving have come close to being absolutely perfect, just think of the times when the razor was not invented yet. Is there really such thing as “the perfect shave.” Our technology today has helped a lot in making it wonderfully comfortable and very much enjoying for a man to have some quiet time for himself, to do some quality shaving.

But there are cases when shaving to most men has become a daily chore which needs to be done mandatory and with their busy life the shaving must be done very quickly as possible. But this will prevent you from enjoying the benefits of a good shave. The benefits of a nice traditional wet shave are one too many. This shaving method removes the dead skin cells on the face, allows the skin to breathe and exfoliates it, which makes it almost the perfect shave with longer lasting results. However if shaving is done improperly, too often the results are razor-burn, discomfort, rashes and dry skin.

Preparation is the key to achieving the perfect shave. It is recommended to shave right after taking a shower or if not it is best to wet the face with hot water before doing the shaving.

This way, the beard will soften and the pores will open. Regardless of the fact that you can always apply shaving creams with the use of your fingers, with the invention of the shaving brush a richer lather will be achieved by using it instead. A good quality brush will make the lather of the shaving cream much richer than with the use of your fingers, thus giving you a better shave. Opting for a glycerin-based shaving cream will be a good choice. This is the way it is done; put a small amount of shaving cream into your face and rub onto the wet skin using the brush, then move the brush back in forth and in circular motion over the entire skin with the beard of course. Move the brush against the grain of the beard or the stubbles this will produce more good lather. You can take your time and enjoy lathering up to 2 to 3 minutes.

Now let’s go to the shaving part. Always remember that to achieve the perfect shave; you have to do it with the lie of your beard. The shaving should never be done against the lie of the beard. This is the common major causes of razor-burn. Hold your skin tight with your free hand then gently guide the razor over your skin. Rinse the razor with more water while shaving if it’s necessary, this prevent clogging the blades of the razor. If it is still necessary you can do the process again.

After shaving, it is essential to apply cold water and splash it to your face, this will make your pores close and don’t forget to pat your skin dry. If you want to achieve the perfect shave you better start learning how to do your shaving perfectly.
